Which browsers seem to
work the best with SqueezeNet?
QualComm's pdQbrowser and ProxiWeb's browser seem to work the best.
For now, the best option is to use the PDA (without tables) SqueezeNet
site. Once these browsers support tables, the PDA (with tables)
SqueezeNet site may be a better choice.
Are there any browsers
that are not supported?
The only issues we are aware of is with the HandWeb browser. When trying
to access SqueezeNet.com, you may get a message saying that the site cannot be
found because the current browser does not support protocols required to reach
the site requested. To work around this problem, scroll down and re-enter
SqueezeNet.com in the Domain text box when you are prompted by the error page. You
can then tap the "Submit URL" button. The SqueezeNet site should
then come up. Make sure you bookmark this page so that you won't have to
go through the process the next time. As with the other browsers, the best
selection for now is the PDA (without tables) SqueezeNet site.
What equipment do I need
to have wireless access to the web?
One of the more popular options is to purchase a Palm V and sign up with
the OmniSky flat rate service. The other option is to purchase a web
enabled PCS phone and sign up for the wireless web option.
Do I need special software
to access information on the Internet?
You don't need any special software
to access SqueezeNet. As long as your device supports some type of Internet
browser, you will be able to view and interact with most (if not all) of the
information presented through the SqueezeNet web site. While we can't
control any web site that is outside of the SqueezeNet site, almost all of the
sites that SqueezeNet links to will have at least some content that has been
optimized for a wireless device. We try not to link to sites that have too
much "clutter", contain non-essential data or have poor formatting for
wireless devices.
How do I actually
get to the SqueezeNet wireless web site?
Just point your browser to
SqueezeNet.com. Once the page comes up, make the selection most
appropriate for the device you are using. In most cases, the PDA (without tables) option will probably work the best for most wireless
devices (except PCS phones). For a web enabled phone, just type in
"ptap" in the phone's Go-To page. This is a short-cut that will
take you directly to the correct phone enabled SqueezeNet page.
Using the Virtual Wireless Device
How close is the simulation
to an actual wireless device?
The simulation is meant to give you a general idea of what it will be
like to access the Internet with a wireless device. The performance and
formatting of an actual wireless device can vary significantly. This is
especially true if your PC download speed or your browser's capability are
significantly different from the wireless device's download speed or browser
capability. Also, wireless device screens come in many different
sizes. The Virtual Wireless Device only represents one such possible
screen size. Additionally, your PC's screen size, font selection,
resolution, window size and other factors will make the format look different
for different users. Therefore, to get a better idea of actual formatting
and performance of a specific wireless device, it is recommended that you
actually try one out before deciding if it will meet your needs.
I have a web site. How do
I convert it for wireless access?
Contact SqueezeNet to
determine what specific options you have.
